The villas are in the centre of Northern Crete in Atsipopoulo Village, 5 km from the town of Rethymno. Diktamos Villas are located in the village “Atsipopoulo”, a well known village which has flourished in the last 10 years and now is actually a small town in itself and a suburb of Rethymno. Diktamos Villas are situated at a distance of 75 km west of Heraklion International airport or 60km from Chania International airport and only a 5' min. drive from the centre of the beautiful historical city of Rethymno, a place blessed with beauty, embraced by high mountains and the deep blue of the Mediterranean sea, decorated with renaissance colours and inhabited by people known for their hospitality honouring their traditions. Rethymno's old city is located beneath the walls of its sleepless guard the Venetian Fortezza which was built in the 14th Century and preserves a vivid medieval renaissance feeling. The village of Atsipopoulo is strategically placed and therefore it has seen many battles against the Turks. The houses are closely built to each other and were easily converted to a fortress in times of need. The residents respect the architectural value of their homes and keep them well maintained. In this way Atsipopoulo today upholds the traditional look of Venetian years. Its neighbourhoods, its churches and spellbinding alleys will charm the visitor. Walking through the side streets they will find themselves under Venetian galleries and arches.

THE AREA ROUND THE VILLA

The closest beach to Diktamos villas is Rethymno beach (organised) which is around 6.5km away. The long sandy main beach of Rethymno, which is the widest and longest beach in Crete, is organized with colourful umbrellas, sun beds, water sports facilities, etc. is 8km far away form the villa.Furthermore, along the street on the upper side of the beach, which is ideal for afternoon walks by the sea, you will find lots of shops, tavernas and cafes.Additionally there are many choices for beaches near Rethymno:- Episkopi beach (12 km): Is located 500m east of the city centre and it is a beach with golden sand and crystal clear shallow water, very well organized and close to all amenities of the city. It offers numerous beach bars, restaurants and cafes that offer umbrellas with sun beds, showers and changing rooms.&nbsp; Additionally on Rethymno’s beach you may find water sports facilities. Furthermore, there is a boardwalk which is ideal for afternoon walks by the sea, or simply shopping or dining.- Georgiopouli beach (19 km): Is a long sandy beach with many beach bars or restaurants located there. It is well organised beach strip providing sun beds, umbrellas, changing rooms and showers. Of course you can certainly find a quiet spot in an unorganised section of the beach as it runs 3.5 kilometres long.In the South coast of Crete you can also find some of the most amazing natural beaches of Crete like “Schinaria”, “Damnoni”, “Triopetra”, “Agios Pavlos” and “Preveli". The distance to the South coast is about 40 minutes from the villa by car.&nbsp;&nbsp;Crete is a magical island filled with myth and legend, a place to relax the ideal choice for all the family.
